Your notes and settings

Throw Away Notes is made by Tiny App Studio. The app stores your note text, paper colors, text styles, pins, dates, bin status, and generated search metadata on your device. Appearance, sound, haptic, and new-note preferences are also stored locally. There is no separate Throw Away Notes account.

When iCloud is available

Standard device builds use Apple’s CloudKit through your iCloud account when available. Notes and associated metadata can sync through that service. Local preview and simulator builds keep notes on the device and do not enable CloudKit sync. Settings shows which storage mode your build uses.

Apple’s handling of iCloud data is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy. iCloud availability, storage, and system backup behavior depend on your Apple account and device settings.

Sharing and widgets

When you choose the Throw Away Notes text Share Extension, selected plain text is saved in a shared container on your device (an App Group). The app imports that text as a note when it next runs or becomes active. The extension does not open the app’s note database. Import receipts prevent a completed share from being added twice.

Pinned-note text and its display details are copied to a snapshot in the same App Group so the widget can display them. Anyone who can see your Home Screen may see those pinned notes. When you share a note outward, the destination you choose handles the shared text under its own practices.

Search stays on device

Keyword matching, available language embeddings, and supported Apple Foundation Models features run on your device. The app does not send note contents to a third-party AI service. Generated classifications and search metadata are stored with the notes and may sync through iCloud with them.

Letting notes go

Notes moved to Bin remain recoverable for up to 30 days unless you delete them permanently sooner. The app purges expired bin notes when it opens or becomes active. Widget snapshots refresh after note changes and activation; iOS controls when the widget display refreshes.

Import receipts can remain after a note is deleted to prevent a previously imported share from recreating it. Deleting the app does not necessarily remove data retained in iCloud or device backups. You can manage Apple storage and backups in your device’s system settings.

When you contact us

If you send feedback, a feature request, or another email to hello@tinyappstudio.io, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send so we can respond. The app does not automatically attach notes or diagnostic logs. Your email provider also processes the message.

Use that address for questions about your information or to request access, correction, or deletion of support correspondence. Please avoid sending sensitive note contents you do not want to share.

This website and Apple services

These pages contain no analytics scripts, advertising, cookies, external fonts, or embedded trackers. Your browser still sends ordinary connection information when loading a website. The deployed hosting service may process request information to deliver the pages; no separate analytics service is included in this site.

App Store ratings and any diagnostics you choose to share through Apple are handled through Apple’s systems and settings. The app does not include its own analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
